Because we are a bunch of gigantic nerds at Polished... We get more than a little excited when there is an update to one of our favorite social platforms, so the announcement this month that Instagram is officially making the new 'draft' function active on all accounts has more super excited!
The service has been in testing mode since August with a limited number of profiles/users initially given access to the function. Now they're showing the love to everyone with the updates being rolled out worldwide.
So how does it work? And why do we love it?
The functionality of building posts in your insta feed and 'saving them for later' is something marketers have been calling for for some time. It means that you can essentially save your work mid post, so you can revisit it later and either edit it or post it live. This means, from a marketing point of view, we can prepare more quality posts, easily and quickly and line them up for posting later on all within the Insta app.
To save a draft, while you are preparing a post just hit the back button (like you normally would to exit/cancel before posting live) and at this point, the app will ask you whether or not you want to save the photo to your drafts. Press yes, and then next time you log into the app, your draft will appear in a special section of your library, above all the other photos.
Want to delete some of your drafts? Just select 'manage' and you can remove drafts you do not wish to keep.
So there you have it, a minor update but if you use it wisely, it could have a major effect on your Insta campaigns.
Tell us if/how you're going to use this new function!
