Small business owners read on! The Queensland Government has opened applications for the Small Business Digital Grants Program which means you could be eligible for dollar matching of up to $10,000! Unfortunately the timeframes are a bit on the tight side with applications closing 9th December 2016.
The Small Business Digital Grants Program provides small businesses with access to digital technologies and services to enable them to work smarter, engage with the global economy and make the most of online business opportunities arising from digital disruption.
The application process is quite complex however absolutely worth it if you are able to grow your business as a result of this grant! Small business owners are required to submit a full digital marketing submission with quantifiable forecasted outcomes.
Available funding and how you can utilise it
In a nutshell, the Qld Government have specified any digital activity which falls under the following 5 categories will be considered:
Digital planning, advice or training
Digital marketing and social media
Digital content (eg: websites, mobile apps, media)
Specialised digital software or technology (must be business specific!)
Receiving payments or selling online
If your small business regularly engages in any of the above activities (I think this applies to all of us!), we urge you to submit an application. Funding of up to $10,000 (excluding GST) is available.
The business MUST show that digital capabilities and business growth will be achieved through the use of the above-mentioned digital products or services.
Upon receipt and approval of your application (fingers crossed!), payment will be made directly to the business on completion of the project. You will need to present PROOF of payment for this product or service. The total grant payment MAY be increased to compensate for GST.
Unfortunately, there is small print that needs to be considered. You will only be eligible for this payment if your business:
Has fewer than 20 employees
Has a Queensland headquarters or significant Queensland-based operations
Has an Australian Business Number (ABN) AND is registered for GST
MUST declare if any business partners or co-owners have any disputes in regards to bankruptcy
If you do receive the grant, you MUST submit a report detailing how the funds were spent and how this impacted your business.
*Only one application per calendar year, per business or sole trader with a registered ABN will be considered
